As a resident alien of the United States, however, I can assure you that you ain't see nothin' yet. So long as Harper takes his cues from his neo-conservative chums in Texas - whoops! DC - Canada is in for a rough ride. We've lived through 8 long years of President George W. Rove (Whoops! There I go again...Bush) and the strategy has been 100% organic, fat-free, salt-free, sugar-free obfuscation. So much strategy in there appearing to be no strategy that I am developing spin-envy. Watching HBO's Recount last night, I was reminded how far behind the Democrats are in terms of strategic lying. Are the Liberals in Canada that handicapped as well? Trouble is, when people are spoon-fed spin, mis-educated and under-educated long enough, they begin to say things like "what do the economy and the war in Iraq have in common?!" I hate to say it but this approach appears to have worked in this country. A generation of dumbing down a la Simpsons and Paris Hilton has bred its own ignorance and susceptibility to spin. We're counting on Obama to slowly re-introduce to a diet of the truth but I won't hold my breath.
